This past Sunday we celebrated Kristen's birthday. Nathaniel made good use of his two teeth to work the corn on the cob, while Lillian demonstrated how the pros do it. Eric baked a flourless chocolate cake, on which he and his father decided that it would be cool to use binary to represent Kristen's age. Later that afternoon Eric and Kristen retreated to San Francisco to do some hill climbing and sightseeing before enjoying a delectable dinner in the city, while Grandma and Grandpa hung out with Lillian and Nathaniel.

Happy Hollow Camp Out
Last weekend Eric took Lillian to Happy Hollow for their annual sleepover. It was a grand old time, with animals to touch, flashlight tours of nocturnal zoo critters, s'mores and sleeping in a tent. The only downside is that they shut down the rides for the night, a fact that Lillian only realized as we were leaving Sunday morning. As you may remember, Lillian used to be a bit reluctant to touch animals though determined to interact with them. That has changed, as she pet the opossum and the turtle without a moment's hesitation.
